KGBC & DGNB Training Academy and Certification
KGBC is DGNB Exclusive Academy Partner for Republic of Kosova
The Kosovo Green Building Council has held the status of DGNB Academy Partner since May 2025. In this capacity, it has the opportunity to meet the needs and educate local experts in the built environment about the criteria and assessment required to obtain the DGNB certificate.
The DGNB Academy regularly provides training through which professionals can become certified DGNB consultants.
The vision of the DGNB Academy is to promote sustainability in the built environment by providing professionals with precise tools and knowledge to enhance their skills through flexible and well-structured educational programs.
The DGNB Academy is committed to addressing the future challenges of sustainable construction by:
- Making DGNB expertise accessible to a wide range of professionals
- Meeting the specific needs of various stakeholders through customized training formats
- Providing professionals with the tools they need for their professional development
- Making DGNB knowledge available for the implementation of the DGNB certification system
- The DGNB Academy offers excellent learning opportunities for acquiring expertise related to the DGNB system and exploring current approaches to sustainable development.
DGNB Registered Professional
Every development related to sustainable construction must be based on equal knowledge: understanding the issues and topics relevant to sustainable construction. The DGNB Academy provides the starting point for sustainable construction topics with DGNB Registered Professional training.
DGNB Registered Professional education is designed for young professionals, students, and stakeholders in architecture, construction, real estate, and other professionals who want to gain knowledge about sustainable construction and planning.
Currently, there are no planned DGNB Registered Professional training sessions, and information about future training will be announced in the coming period.
DGNB Consultant
DGNB Consultant training is designed for key professionals in architecture, construction, and the real estate industry with prior professional experience. This training is based on the fundamental knowledge acquired through DGNB Registered Professional training.
DGNB consultants provide consulting services for DGNB certificates and precertificates for buildings and neighborhoods. After training, DGNB consultants collaborate closely with the project team and clients during the design and construction process to successfully meet all the requirements for achieving DGNB certification.

DGNB Certification System
For planning and evaluation of buildings, there is a new and clearly structured tool: The German Sustainable Building Certification. As meritocratic rating system, it covers all relevant topics of sustainable construction. Outstanding buildings are awarded the categories bronze, silver, or gold.
The German Sustainable Building Certification was developed by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) together with the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building, and Urban Affairs (BMVBS) to be used as a tool for the planning and evaluation of buildings in this comprehensive perspective on quality. As a clearly arranged and easy to understand rating system, the German Sustainable Building Certification covers all relevant topics of sustainable construction, and awards outstanding buildings in the categories bronze, silver, and gold. Six subjects affect the evaluation: ecology, economy, social-cultural and functional topics, techniques, processes, and location.
The certificate is based on the concept of integral planning that defines, at an early stage, the aims of sustainable construction. In this way, sustainable buildings can be designed based on the current state of technology, – and they can communicate their quality with this new certificate.
